CHINESE JEWISH HERITAGE TOUR

Day 1 of tour is Thursday June 7th. The tour will be led and organized by me, Scott Gumbiner, a Jewish American that speaks fluent Chinese, is married to a Chinese lady, and has lived in China 1/3 of his life, and has led tours in China and Asia for the top tour operators in the industry for the past 12 years.
All meals with a couple of exceptions are included

Day 1 Beijing
You will be met by your driver and guide just outside the baggage claim and transferred to the Regent in Beijing. Your hotel for the next 4 nights.
Sumptuous Peking Duck Welcome dinner at world re-known Duck De Chine.
Day 2 Beijing
Experience Beijing waking up in the morning with a stroll through China's political heart in Tiananmen Square and a guided tour through China's last two dynasties in the Forbidden City.
After a delightful Chinese lunch savor in the stories of the controversial Dragon Lady with a visit to the Summer Palace and boat ride (weather permitting).
Shabbat service and dinner at a local congregation in Beijing.
Day 3 Beijing
Join the retired Chinese in their morning exercises, music, games, and gatherings at the park inside the Temple of Heaven followed by a visit to the single most iconic landmark in Beijing, the Temple of Heaven.
After a local lunch enjoy a tour of Beijing's traditional neighborhood via a rickshaw ride through the Hutongs and a walk through the Houhai neighborhood.

Day 4 Beijing
We embark to one of the true wonders of the world with a visit to the Great Wall. We visit the less touristy Mutianyu section of the wall. For those interested they may take a sled down the wall.
After lunch enjoy free time to explore on your own or join us for an afternoon visit to the Pearl Market.
Dinner is on your own. Scott will provide suggestions on where to dine.
Day 5 Fly to Harbin
A morning flight to Harbin brings us to one of the major Chinese-Jewish epicenters in China. Nearly 100 years ago, Russian Jews fleeing the Bolshevik revolution in Russia found refuge and new lives in Harbin, China.
We will visit the former Jewish Hospital and Jewish Cemetery
Enjoy a late lunch at Huameixi, opened by a Russian Jew in 1925
Afternoon tour to visit the Siberian Tigers
Day 6 Harbin
Enjoy a morning tour through the former center of Jewish life in the 1900's in China through Central Street.
After lunch tour the Harbin Main Synagogue
Day 7 Fly to Xian
This morning we fly to the ancient Chinese capital of Xian
After leaving airport a Visit to the Han Yan Ling Tomb dating back over 2,000 years.
If time permits we will visit the old Muslim quarter.
We will enjoy a tasty dumpling extravaganza tonight for dinner.
Day 8 Xian
This morning you will be transported back nearly 2,000 years with a visit to the world famous terra-cotta warriors. Spend the entire morning connecting to a time where China's identity was forged.
Afternoon you have a choice to bike ride on one of the only remaining city walls in China or visit the world class, Shanxi provincial museum.
A delightful dinner show at the Tang Dynasty Dinner Palace.
Day 11 Fly to Chengdu
After our flight to Chengdu, the capital of the Sichuan province...
We will make our way to the Panda breeding center where everyone will have a chance to hold a baby or infant panda.
Enjoy some down time or free time in the afternoon.
After an unforgettable hot pot dinner, an entertaining evening of acrobats, jokes, fire breathing, and laughs await us at a Sichuan Opera performance.
Day 12 Chengdu
Our morning tour takes us to the Jinli Pedestrian street followed by a deep look into Buddhism with a visit to the Wenshu Yuan Monastery.
After a local lunch you can choose to relax in the afternoon, or take a stroll through one of China's most famous snack streets in Chengdu.
Sichuan cuisine's reputation has spread all around the world. Join us in the evening for an evening Chengdu food tour by tuk-tuk and experience what real Sichuan food is all about.
Day 13 Fly to Guilin
Guilin has been depicted in hundreds of thousands of Chinese paintings for its natural beauty. Guilin's Karst mountains have even graced the back of a 20 RMB bill.
After our flight arrives in picturesque Guilin we head towards our boat on the Li River to enjoy the scrolling scenery while enjoying our lunches on the boat.
Continue to loose yourself in relaxation with an afternoon foot massage..
Dinner will be included at our hotel.
Day 14 Guilin
This morning learn to cook some of the local treats in Guilin followed by lunch.
You will have a little time to wander in charming Yangshou.
Dinner is included at our hotel.
Day 15 Fly to Shanghai
Off to the the bustling metropolis of Shanghai
We arrive in the afternoon and our first stop takes us to the world class urban planning museum and Shanghai museum.
Take in the energy of Shanghai's vibrancy with a walk on Nanjing street to our hotel.
Tonight you will be dazzled by the ever so talented Shanghai acrobats.
Day 16 Shanghai
The morning starts with a tour of the majestic Yu Gardens.
Enjoy lunch at one of the Jewish Chinese eateries in town.
The afternoon takes us to the old Shanghai Ghetto, where another chapter of Jewish history in China will be revealed.
Dinner tonight will be a Shabbat dinner at the Shanghai Chabad.
Day 17 Shanghai
Be whisked away by a morning motorcycle and side car tour through the former French Concession. The tour will end at at the chic, Xin Tian Di.. You will have free time for lunch and shopping.
The afternoon is yours to explore on your own.
Farewell dinner at "M on the Bund".
Day 18 Journey Home
Included transfer from our hotel to airport or train station.

Day 9 Bullet Train to Zhengzhou/Kaifeng
Morning tour of the Muslim Quarter (if not seen upon arrival), followed by lunch, then bullet train ride to Zhengzhou.
Upon arrival in Zhengzhou we will take a brief city tour on the way to our hotel.
Day 10 Kaifeng (The first Chinese Jewish City)
About an hour drive from Zhengzhou, as soon as we arrive in Kaifeng, enjoy a morning visit to the Millenium City Park (there are many folk shows, people dancing, exercising, and playing games in the park)
In the afternoon, visit a Kaifeng Chinese Jewish resident's house, then visit the former "Teaching Torah Lane" and site of the former Kaifeng Synagogue (the Iron Pagoda and the Grand Xiangguo Temple).
We will return to Zhengzhou for dinner in the evening.
